What Makes This Nautical Hair Fork Special?

The Technical Details
The metal pieces and the heavy wire fork are sterling and fine silver. The anchor and compass rose are die cast in my studio. The gemstone is a 4mm topaz cabochon.
The hair fork is about 5 inches long, with a usable length of 4-1/2 inches. The forks are 3/4 inch apart. The ends are filed at an angle and then rounded smooth.
