A Poppy flower with deep details graces this copper hair fork.
The poppy flower design is pressed from a solid sheet of copper, then oxidized to bring out all of the detail. You can see how deep the design is in the last photograph.
The hub used to create the die for this design was carved by a master hub carver the Janvier Gruson company in Paris at some point in the 1860s. This is very early French Art nouveau.
The flower is 1 inch wide, at the widest point the overall design is 1-1/4 inches wide, and the length from the top of the flower to the tip of the stem is 2 inches. The usable length is 4 inches from the tip of the stem, and the fork is 3/4 inches wide with a hammered texture.
